According to traditional accounts of the Saint Thomas Christians of India, the Apostle Thomas landed in Muziris (Cranganore) on the Kerala coast in AD 52 and was martyred in Mylapore, near Madras, Tamil Nadu in AD 72. It is widely believed that St. Thomas converted certain Hindus to Christianity and there by Christianity started spreading in Kerala. However, this episode is to shed more light on the ‘historical and biblical’ fact that St. Thomas did not came to convert any Hindus to Christianity, rather he came looking for his kinsman (Jews) dispersed around (diaspora Jews) to preach to them the Kingdom of Heaven, the gospel that was committed unto them by the Lord Jesus Christ.
