God changed Jacob’s name to Israel, which means “Prince of God.” Israel had twelve sons. They became the 12 tribes of Israel. The Abrahamic Covenant was passed to them. From this point forward, God’s nation would be named Israel. People of all other nations were called Gentiles. God made a difference between Israel and the Gentiles and erected what he called “the middle wall of partition” between them.
